The Outback OB02 antenna is a 1.8 metres long 2 piece antenna, (optional 1 piece available) is brown in colour and connects to the mounting base via a 1/2" b.s.w thread. We highly recommend that the heavy duty - industry standard, Terlin (TAHFBS) be used with all outback series antenna.

All Terlin Outbacker HF antenna are coated with the latest, strongest the most technology advanced thermal setting plastics. Our coatings have been well proven over 30 years. From the extreme cold winters in Alaska, to the harsh boiling temperatures of the Australian desert.

NB:- NONE OF OUR ANTENNA ARE COATED WITH SUB STANDARD HEAT SHRINK PLASTIC!

In the past heat shrink was used to cover single frequency whip, however the windings and tap points cannot be sealed from the elements, mainly water ingress on multi-tapped antenna. Heat shrink is also easily damaged by trees and sharp objects, ie garage roofs etc.

Our coatings have a lifetime guarantee against flaking or peeling whilst still maintaining maximum flexibility, durability and ruggedness.

HFoZ, has 5 carefully selected channels, ranging from 3 to 15Mhz. These frequencies have been (for the first time) approved for Voice and limited Data usage, which will allow the radio user to further expand the usage of their radio.

HFoZ, gives you access to voice communications between vehicles without the interruptions from scheduled reports and or fixed times for reporting and logging.

SMS - Paging Message Service - Vehicle to Vehicle
Most modern day radios are equipped with SMS or sometimes known as Paging. This feature allows the user the facility to send and receive short messages usually up to a maximum of around 64 characters between radios. It is particularly handy in times when signal strength may not be as good as required for normal voice communications.

GPS Position Reporting - Vehicle to Vehicle

GPS Position Data Logging allows the radio user to send their co-ordinates to any of the designated HFoZ Base sites for safety logging purposes. The base will then automatically store this data for any possible safety and emergency purposes recall. It also gives your family, friends and business associates access to view these stored records from our secure database, by simply using any normal internet connection, via 'user name' and 'password'. In addition it wil give them the facility to upload these GPS positions to a mapping page (Natmap Raster 1:250K Topographical) for easy reference. This completely eliminates the need for Voice logging to a base operator and is far more reliable than Voice Comms particularly in times of weak signal strength and poor propagation. -

SMS - Paging Message Service - Vehicle to Base

SMS or Paging allows the user to send text messages (i.e., safety logging messages or just general messages) up to a maximum of 64 characters for Codan radios or 32 characters for Barrett radios, to any of the designated HFoZ Base Sites. The information will then be stored on our secure database for any possible emergency purposes recall. It also gives your family, friends and business associates access to view these stored records via any normal internet connection using 'user name' and 'password'. Once again this feature as in GPS above, completely eliminates the need for Voice logging to a base operator and is far more reliable in times of weak signal strength.

EMAIL **

HFoZ EMAIL will allow the radio to send short messages (up to 60 characters for Codan NGT and 9323 and up to 28 characters for Barrett 2050) to any designated preset email addresses (up to 99 email address can be stored). However this service currently does not allow emails from computer to the radio -
